Tip of the Week #5 - ALWAYS Do a Test Run

I can’t count the number of times I’ve been SURE a new rule will do exactly what I think it will do…but when I do a test run I am surprised to find results I wasn’t expecting. This is normal and part of the process! Some tips to make your rule-building life easier:

Don't think about it, just always do the test run no matter what. This is a better safe than sorry situation, and it shouldn't add too much time to your process.

🚩 Create a custom field checkbox and select some accounts to add in your “test” group. These could be a variety of accounts across different segments, teams, ARRs, etc. Then when testing your rule you can add this field as a filter and only see results for those accounts.

👉 For places you can’t do a test run (Connector jobs for example), filter down to only one record, then run the job to make sure it does what you are expecting.

What have your learned from doing test runs in Gainsight?
